My Short Story

The airs of pomposity and forced resignation flooded the café in a near-impenetrable haze. Left of the counter, a wall housed a mosaic of past beatniks who’d made history through ventures of no particular importance. It seemed that in an act of defiance, the room’s lights were absurdly bright, though only barely fracturing the stereotype of yet another coffee shop, and the image of children like myself who would flood to it for refuge. It was too early for a crowd, but late enough where the few occupied seats were adorned by would-be professors typing furiously on laptops. With equal fervor, I drank heavily from a large no-named coffee mug. Every few moments the stool I sat upon tipped uneasily at notice of its one leg whose length had come up comparatively short; the thumps of its inevitable fall and rise stuttered awkwardly as a languid and aged woman placed herself atop an adjacent bar seat.

Keep Your Calm

By admin

This label will be almost impossible to shake in the following months, and the best a parent can do at that point is to pray for June to come quickly. Teaching your child to be charming can help them win friends. Friendship is another art to be cultivated, and it’s easier to do this if you’re charming. I could go on and on about the increase in success on interviews, the success of relationships if you’re charming …. Blah, blah, blah. You know all this. You don’t need me beating you over the head with it. Wouldn’t it be great to live in a world where each and every one of us walks up to the nearest person and pays him or her spontaneous, sincere, well-thought-out, nurturing compliment? Let’s all do this at the exact same moment. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Wouldn’t the world be a great place to be? Let’s get started. Right now!

Entertaining the Young is Easy

By admin

If you entertain them, they’ll do the same for their colleagues, coworkers, friends and lovers when they get older. Draw silly pictures. Crack jokes with all of your family members. This can really improve your relationship with your child – I am constantly amazed how goofing around with my son often leads to some very meaningful conversations we would not otherwise have had. You know all of this already. We all do. But sometimes we forget. The first time a kid screams at his or her teacher, the teacher’s face hardens in response, even though the child has no understanding of what the fallout of that interaction will be. The teacher will remind him- or herself of this the first few times, when dealing with that student. The fourth or fifth time it happens, the situation will turn a very ugly corner, and the student will acquire, at least in that teacher’s mind, a nasty label.

A dinner with friends

Home Cooking Party: Appetizer - Tomato-Basil B...

Last night I and two friends of mine decided to go out for dinner. We went to a restaurant named “Tandoori Bytes”. We started off with tomato soup. The soup was delicious and we were feeling even hungrier after that. Thereafter, we ordered a “Paneer Toofani”, a “Dal Makhani” (Indian Punjabi Food) and “Pineapple Raita” (Sweet curd with cut pineapple pieces) along with Chapattis. Paneer Toofani is cheese with tomato curry and it tasted awesome. I ate to the maximum extent to which I could. To finish off the dinner we ordered Vanilla Ice cream. This was a really enjoyable dinner.
