A Weekend in the Country

Last weekend was an unusual one. Rather than the typical weekend chores and running errands, my husband and I had the chance to go to Wisconsin and see our daughter compete in a horse show. She and her friends were participating in a dressage competition. The weather on Saturday wasn’t too good. It was cold and overcast all day. It even rained a little. It had rained the night before, so there were some pretty big puddles for the horses to maneuver through. The show went on, though, and we enjoyed watching the girls compete in the tests at their various levels. Everyone won ribbons, which made it even more fun.

Abby

By admin

My dog Abby is a 4 year old yellow lab. When we went to get her, the litter was split all the males were brown and females yellow. She was the biggest jolliest pup so we got her. She began to grow like a weed, not to mention get into any and everything possible. Abby loves going to the dog park and playing with all the other dogs. Abby enjoys going hunting with all the rest of the dogs, but she wears cologne for dogs. At times she has been a little hard to handle, but pretty much simply because she is so happy. When she gets excited and happy, she proceeds to jump and run around endlessly. She now has seizures, which sometimes makes her hard to handle, but we are getting through them. Sometimes are better than others. With the meds she is on we go through spells where seizures come more often and sometime that is actually rare.

Change of Heart

By admin

My four year old daughter has always been deathly afraid of dogs. She usually takes off running in the other direction whenever she sees one. It doesn’t matter if the dog is big or small, active or lazy.  Well, I think my neighbor’s new dog Bella has changed my daughter’s heart.  She met the puppy who is just a few weeks old, and was immediately drawn to her.  She was fascinated that the dog has one blue eye and one brown eye. She sat in awe of Bella and stroked her back for what seemed like hours. Then, after she stopped she still kept her eye on her the entire time we were visiting. If she didn’t see her at any time she got up to go find her. She even put some treats in her Christmas stockings for dogs. Now my daughter is insisting that she wants a puppy of her own. Bella has won her over.

Have you ever seen a Lassie go this Way and That?

By admin

My day today has been basically spent darting here and there in perpetual motion. I have gone from one thing to another thing, then to think of another thing I needed to do. Sometimes it has been almost exhausting just to keep up with what I was originally doing to start with. My mother-in-law is in the hospital, very serious and probably not going to live long. All the while I am trying to accomplish tasks; I am thinking how I need to go see her. This keeps me from being able to concentrate on one task. So, I think I will fold it up, and go to the hospital to visit.
