Skipping High School

When I say skipping, I don’t mean that I didn’t pass high school. I mean that I took the direction that seemed the best at the time for me: online schooling. Let me tell you, you’ve got to be one motivated cookie to be a teenager making your way through high school with online courses. I remember spending about 4 hours a day online, writing up assignments and reading various text books. It did give me a lot more time for work and helping my single mother around the house, but part of me now wishes I had gone through the traditional experience of going to school every day and hanging out with friends all the time.
Bus Adventures

As a student, I decided to take the route of not owning a car. I’ve used the public transport that was available to me in my smallish town. Let me tell you, in the near future I will most certainly be investing in a car! I’ve grown tired of running to and from bus stops, usually catching it but sometimes missing the darn thing! When you’ve got to be at work at 1:30 and you’ve missed your 1:00 bus that doesn’t come for another hour, it is very frustrating. My husband and I are anxiously waiting for the day we’ve saved up enough for a down payment on our new vehicle!

I have a passionate love for oldies music. Dean Martin, Julie London, Frank Sinatra, I love it all. I’ve always been attracted to the more vintage style of living ever since I was small. I love going to vintage stores and exploring the clothes as well as the old records. I have a record player that’s on almost all the time and a vast collection of everything from The Beatles to Siouxie and the Banshees but I always go back to my true love – the oldies. I can always find time to dance to the beat, laugh at the lyrics, and just get in a better mood when I listen to awesome oldies!
A 70’s Townhouse

I recently bought a midsize townhouse in the heart of my suburban town by the countryside. It’s a gated community, which makes me feel very safe and at the same time slightly trapped in! Many families with small children have also chosen this complex as a home because it is very close to some reputable schools. I love the kids when they’re playing in the large park area, but not so much when the parents let them play hockey in our driveways – it’s both dangerous and they can get rowdy! As for the house itself, it’s very charming. Two floors and a basement do my husband and me over quite well and it’s great that we have room to expand our family. It is an older house so it can have its ups and downs as well as its squeaks and creaks but I can see us staying here for at least 10 more years to come!
