Will Ferrell as George Bush

By admin

The funniest thing I’ve ever seen was Will Farrell’s “You’re Welcome, America.  A Final Night with George Bush.”  The sketches in the play were great, but even more significant, Will Ferrell became George Bush, capturing both his mannerisms and his speech patterns and making his performance less a caricature than a true portrayal of W. I nearly fell off the couch was Ferrell’s Bush dance around the office with “Condolezza Rice.”  When Ferrell’s Bush started creating nicknames for audience members, I was in hysterics.  Ferrell even managed to elicit some sympathy for George W. Bush, something I thought unimaginably since I view Bush as evil incarnate (second only to Dick Cheney).  In any case, Will Farrell’s “You’re Welcome, America.  A Final Night with George Bush” was a laugh riot.

A Work Week I’d Rather Forget

By admin

Last week was my work week from hell.  Normally I only have to go to work three days.  Last week, I was there every day.  Normally I only have to attend a meeting every other week.  Last week, it just so happened that three of my usually monthly meetings fell in the same week.  I’d rather poke out my eyes with sharp sticks than attend meetings, so three in the same week seemed like true torture. In addition to meetings, I had to make a presentation with one of my colleagues.  We have very different work strategies.  I like a clear organization; she likes things a little more spontaneous.  Our presentation was all right in the end, but I stressed about those gaps in the order of ideas.

My Favorite Computer

New Year's Day Video Game Party

My second computer is probably the most expensive item I’ve ever purchased.  These days, you can get a decent computer for under a thousand dollars.  A dozen years ago, a thousand dollars wouldn’t get you near a machine that could play games and handle pictures and large files with ease.  I don’t want to name its price, but my first Gateway was top of the line for its time, even though by today’s standards, it’s a piece of crap. The machine was able to handle everything I threw at it, including two iterations of Sims games.  The machine still runs, although it occasionally has a hiccup and my screen will collapse to the left.  I’m keeping it for sentimental reasons, though.

Going Green with a Prius

By admin

If I could have any car, I would choose a Toyota Prius.  I’ve been a Toyota owner on and off throughout my life, and I love the brand (despite current acceleration issues).  I’ve always preferred a manual transmission for better gas mileage and more driving fun.  The Prius would give me both in spades.  The Prius looks modern and sleek, and I know I’d find myself driving down side streets just to watch my gas consumption drop to zero while the batteries kick in.  The Prius is a bit on the small side, but I’m willing to sacrifice some space for some serious gas mileage improvement.
