What It Takes to Change a Life

Ham on Rye

I’ve never had a life changing experience with any sort of art, whether it be book or film. My favorite book of all time is Charles Bukowski’s Ham on Rye, which is a sparsely written semiautobiographical account of the author’s life. The book has been hailed as his best and I sped through it in a single day. The book relates to me so much and when I read it I think of the main character, Harry Chinaski, as my brother, for he basically based his entire personality off of Harry. The book is a work of art that inspired so many authors and I just really adore it.

What to Watch

By admin

Medical dramas tend to be boring garbage, and are usually serialized. Police dramas are usually some of the best shows on television. Legal dramas are possibly the most boring hours of television in existence. If I had to choose between the three, I would most likely go with Police dramas. Police dramas have in their ranks HBO’s The Wire and TNT’s Southland. Yet, these genres are not my favorite television shows. My favorites tend to be Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Mad Men is about an ad agency that is struggling to make it big and its womanizing creative designer. Breaking Bad is a thriller in which a high school chemistry teacher gets cancer and is forced to make meth to be able to leave some money for his family to survive.

Coming Upon Money

500 dollars is a lot for me. As a shopper, I usually buy DVD’s and clothing, for I am trying to build a DVD collection (I am a film student) and nobody can ever have enough clothing. Yet 500 dollars is a little more money than I am used to, so I would most likely spend about 200 on DVD’s, of which I only buy my favorite movies, and clothing, possibly a heavy jacket because where I go to school is extremely cold. If I had to spend more I would probably just buy a pair of shoes or some more clothing.

On the Fulfillment of Life

By admin

In my opinion, the five stages of life fulfillment perception go like this, in order: life sucks; my life sucks; I’m great; we’re great; life is great. I would love to be able to say that life is great. And while I can truly say that life is beautiful, at this point in my life, I would not say that I have had a fulfilled one. It would take years and years of me giving back to my community doing volunteer work in order for me to feel that I have given back everything that has been given to me growing up.
